Picnic day with Dad

July 2nd, 2009 by Anya

Colleen and mommy spent the morning playing in a cool park and then going to Tom’s department picnic.

Other recent highlights:
Colleen has discovered that things sound funny when you put your fingers in both your ears at the same time.

She has started regularly speaking in what are very close to full sentences.

She is nearly fully weaned. No nursing before bed or in the morning and only the occasional naptime nursing for a few minutes.

She sleeps through the night or only wakes up once 5-6 times a week. We usually still have one difficult night a week.

Happy Father’s Day to my husband

June 21st, 2009 by Anya

I am so glad you are Colleen’s Dad!  You make us laugh and you hold us when we cry.  You go to work each day so that Colleen and I can play and learn and explore and then on weekends you do all that with her, too.  I appreciate how much you actively take part in her life.  And, it is only going to increase when Baby Dops arrives!!! :-)  Then you will get two to spoil! :-) I love you.

Colleen said her name today!

June 6th, 2009 by Anya

For the first time, Colleen said her name today!  She was looking at a picture of the three of us and said “Mom, Daddy, Colleen.”  I am so excited!

Colleen went in the potty!

May 24th, 2009 by Anya

On Thursday (May 21), Colleen pooped in the potty for the first time!  She’s had a froggy potty for a couple months now, but we haven’t been pushing potty training.  We were at my parents’ place on Thursday and we decided to do potty time after breakfast.  We sat there awhile and then I heard [...]

Happy Mother’s Day to the best Mom in the world

May 9th, 2009 by Tom

OK.  You probably share that title with about a billion other people, but you are one of them.  Anya, thank you so much taking care of Colleen.  You definitely work your butt off to create a loving and caring place for her to grow up.  I can’t think of the words to express my love [...]

Baby Dops…21 weeks

May 2nd, 2009 by Anya

“Dops” seems to be Colleen’s favorite word, but we haven’t actually figured out what it means yet.  She says it a lot.  So, we decided to name our second kid “Dops” while he/she is still in the womb.  If you ask Colleen where Baby Dops is, she points to my tummy.
We had the 20 week [...]

Colleen and the bunnies

May 2nd, 2009 by Anya

Colleen has a new favorite activity…”feeding” the little bunny sculptures and the plastic owl in my parents’ yard.  She absolutely loves it and will pick grass from the yard and bring it to them over and over and over and over again…She wants to do it when it’s cold, when it’s raining and windy, when [...]

Really quick update…

April 18th, 2009 by Anya

Yesterday, Colleen pointed at my Chicago Cubs sweatshirt and said “G” while pointing to the G and then “O” while pointing to the O!  It was very exciting.
She also seems to be able to, at least most of the time, correctly point out other letters when you ask her to identify them.  She also now [...]
